iPad accessory concepts
The big Apple accessory providers cut their teeth on the iPod touch and the iPhone. They have effectively scaled their current offerings for the larger format iPad, so what kind of opportunities are missed by this “refine what we already do” approach? Wth this self-directed project, the main premise was to learn unique potentials specifically for this new device that aren’t optimally experienced on the iPhone or iPod.
Employing applied research and extensive scenario studies, we developed seven rich product concepts. The three basic scenarios we studied circled around the following: iPad verses the e-reader; iPad as the non-stationary home computer; and iPad replacing the television. These context rich scenarios helped us discover what the iPad has to offer and how it can - and will - change the way we use media and what that means for accessories.
