Vise grip concepts
We were approached to take an “established” and “level or declining” product niche to breathe new life into it: the two main user groups being auto and body shop mechanics.
Shop visits with mechanics who use vise-grips & understanding their needs were keys to discovering opportunities for improvement. For users seeking a new tool, we determined six opportunity buckets - easy to adjust, safe release, secure grip, better access, control, turning power - and generated concepts around these attributes.
We visualized four new tool models that would not only address these concerns and needs of the users, but that would build use-centered excitement back into this tired tool category, positioning Snap-On as an innovator in the catagory.
